Powerful Intentions: Law of Attraction Community

Powerful Intentions is a unique Law of Attraction Online Community

My husband is a firefighter and was stationed that day at
the firehouse up the block, backing up to the field.

The fire moved so fast it almost burned the firehouse
itself!

Hundreds of homes could have been lost but in the end the
only damage was to some of the firefighters cars when the
fire came so close to the station.

On of those cars was our truck, by the way! :-}

It was amazing to watch the well oiled team of
firefighters on the ground, and the helicopters that kept
dipping into nearby pools and dropping water on the fire.

All I could feel was excitement , adventure and total
appreciation for the beauty of the fire, and the efforts
of everyone involved , especially my husband!

On the other hand a friend who lives on the other side of
the island told me she felt panic and made calls, asked
for "safe" thoughts, worried about everyone, made prayer
circles etc.

But for me, my focus was on appreciation and actually
enjoying the adventure.

For a moment I felt guilty, about the adventure part,
when others were so worried but of course, that did not
serve me so I let it go!

Do you tend to worry about events of nature, like storms,
floods, fire or other "conditions"?

Or Can you find anything to appreciate about them and
enjoy the adventure?

How can you or have you changed your experience on a
"condition"?

Please post your answer in the FORUM here!

This is a really interesting topic. To be quite honest, I look at it this way, "mother nature" is just stretching, cleaning, burning, etc..........humans just happen to be in the way sometimes. But as long as we respect the process and remember there is life after destruction, it can always be a healing place. For example, with fires, many trees, especially here in the NW can't grow unless heat opens the pinecones where the seeds live. (I learned that from somewhere, so I hope that's right). So in one way a person can dwell on the negative aspect of this "destruction", whether man made or not, or look at it as a way for a new life to be formed. Ok, I'm off the soap box :) ~Kathleen

Interesting update that that fire is still going right now, 6 days later!

It keeps popping up when the wind does and has burned over 500 acres of some very dry land!

Although people were eveacuated from their homes several times, no one is hurt and all is well, as I KNEW it would be!

Salutations, Marcy,

I tend to handle situations much like you did. Living in Florida most of my life, I tend to get a thrill at the splendor and wonder of hurricanes. I do take the necessary precautions. Then I just enjoy the experiences. Even in circumstances that may seem to the outside world and devasting, I interpret them as opportunities. One example is when the power was out for a couple of weeks during the hurricanes that hit a few years ago. The community was tighter than ever as each of us looked out for each, not to mention the great time I had bonding with my children. They had fun "playing" as if it was an indoor campout . Truly, to be in the midst of the storms is exciting and awe-inspiring. Who wouldn't want to bask in the magnificence of that?!

I'm soooo glad everyone is okay and gladly admit I share your sense of adventure about these things!

Whether acts of Mother Nature or Human nature I'm very inclined to see and experience the adventure in it... ever since I was a small kid thrilled at the magnificence of a tornado sweeping in!

I'll never forget the day, probably 10 years ago... when there was a 'man hunt' going on in my neighborhood. The sad news was that a police officer had been shot and killed when checking on a car parked in a church parking lot early one weekday morning. The shooter took off running and we hadn't heard anything about it until all the school age kids in the neighborhood had been sent off to school...

I was doing Childcare at the time and had nine little ones under age 5 when a police officer pounded on the door and told us we had to stay inside...

All day long helicopters flew over head... the National Guard came in with armor after another officer and his dog had been shot... no one was allowed in or out of the area. And it went on all day...school let out but the kids couldn't return home... Daycare Parents couldn't pick up their children... and my neighbors, sons and Daycare Parents were all in a bit of a panic...

and the little ones and I had a BLAST!!! The easy part was the young ones I had at my house didn't need a lot of reassuring...they already felt the adventure of it all. It was the older kids and grownups who were asking for some soothing...so we had wonderful fun making our own helicopters (might as well take advantage of the 'sound effects' playing all day)... we made 'emergency' phone calls to parents and friends informing them of the great time we were having.

And because it quickly became clear I'd have these kids for supper too, we decided to organize a neighborhood potluck... kept everyone cooking all afternoon and then all the neighbors snuck over to my house where we all shared the most interesting supper of assorted dishes until we got the all clear.

I think our "worried" loved ones were a little envious of the wonderful day and unexpected 'party' we had that day once they arrived back and joined us!!!

Yep! We always have a choice to experience things however we choose!

I Love it, especially the toy helicoptors!

Why, that is really inspiring and so "right on" - thank you for sharing that!

Living in California comes with the knowledge that at any moment (without warning) we can experience an earthquake. When that happens, most of us with any history here think first, "OK, this is an earthquake. How big is it? What do I need to do?" There is no sense in panicking.

I do get a feeling of adventure when these spontaneous natural phenomena happen. I actually find them exciting for many reasons. Earthquakes bring us all together as a community as most disasters do. We all share the experience on the same level....which is to say that if you are wealthy you are shaking just as much as people who are not, etc.

Fear, anxiety, worry....all that, as you say, doesn't serve any positive purpose.

I can appreciate your experience of appreciation of your fire, and your pride in your husband's heroic efforts!

Marcy,
Thank you so much for your posts. I appreciate your point of view. I have taken this same view and of course people think that you are crazy for feeling this way. We had fires here in Southern California and we were in the path several times. I took the same attitude. I was grateful. Grateful for the fire fighters grateful for our lives and grateful that we could experience such a powerful event. Absolutely I prayed for everyone's safety and well being. NO one was hurt and no property was lost.
I live my life this way as well. Grateful for the ride!
Thank you..

Such a wonderful way to view life,
We had an ice storm a few years back
electricity was lost for over a week.
I was blessed to have had a gas stove.
My whole family gathered here for the week
we enclosed my kitchen, boiled water,
played cards and made a party of time.

We had a threat of another one this past year
My sister in law and I were all excited about getting the family party together again
Others were worried about all sorts of stuff
I reminded them how pretty the limbs covered in ice looked
and the fun we had

It is all in how we look at things and I believe it is all good :)

Hello, i feñt the same you felt, 2 years ago more o less. I lived in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, when the most huge Hurricane of the story came to the Riviera Maya. I always use to love strong storms, and winds. And those 5 days of Hurricane i enjoyed a lot. I felt gilty too, because a lot of people were in bad conditions. But i Remenber thgose days i decided to felt it as a diferent and exiting experience more than felt panic or be worry.
It was a good experience for me.
Big hug !!! and good energy!!

"When I was 12 and dealing with grief, I figured out that I could be happy on my own, regardless of those around me. As I got a little older, I’d almost stopped believing in it. I just wanted to say thank you for reminding me, as well as enriching the concept so much further. I already feel so much more excited about day to day life. I'll be recommending your book to everyone I know, and keeping mine by my bed to read when I need another reminder." Many thanks, Jocelyn
