How Will You Take Your Focus From What You Are Against To What You Are For This Week?

This is a major time in the USA for the political
process.

All the candidates have said they will say what they are
for rather than attacking the "other guy".

But they don't seem to really do that.


Abraham-Hicks says:


"You can't take sides against anything.

If you would just be one who is for things,
you would live happily ever after.

If you could just leave the "against" part out."

I have to admit that while I believe in this concept , at
times it is not always easy!

As I watched the Democratic and Republican conventions I
realized how much better I keep getting at it.

Instead of wanting to pick apart the group that was "for"
things I was against, I really was able to see how THEY
really believed and were "for " them.

And I moved my thoughts from being against to what what I
"prefer".

And the one I vote for is the one that has more things
that I am excited about and prefer.

I have found it much easier to use the idea of
"preference" as a great bridge in bringing me away from
what I am "against".


HOW WILL YOU TAKE YOUR FOCUS FROM WHAT YOU ARE AGAINST TO
WHAT YOU PREFER THIS WEEK?

there...uuuhh....is....uuhhh.....some form.....of....uuuhhhhh........." " " "freedom of speach" " " " in this 'democratic' country named USA? For me, Marcy (founder of this P.I. movement) is entitled to have her own opinion. Typo or not. And yeah, it does so happen that I agree with Marcy. Have you already forgotten what for devastation 8 years of republican power headed by Bush jr. has left you with? $482.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 billion/zillion??? debt. And then of course, how will it all be if/when the democratic party is in power. When you see the 'facts' emerging. I hope for the better.

Dear Jan,

I absolutely agree with your comments about Marcy having an opinion, typo or not, and the ideal of a free society where everyone is able to express their opinion without fear of reprisal. The comments here about Marcy's little slip remind me slightly of how the country-western band Dixie Chicks spoke out against Bush invading Iraq a few years ago. They spoke out against him and some of their fans spoke out against them for what they said. The Dixie Chicks were totally surprised by some people speaking out against what they had said and disappointed they said, "I thought this was America where people can give their opinion." Sure it is America...you gave your opinion and your fans gave theirs...that is how it works. I found it rather ironic that they were so offended by what others said about what they said because it seems as if they felt that only they had a right to their opinion and if others disagreed with what they had said they should just keep it to themselves.

In my mind that is how it works here in the U.S. the land of the free. I have a right to express my opinion and others have a right to disagree and express their opinion. Disagreeing with what someone else thinks or believes is a part of the bargin and if we expect the right to express our opinion we should be ready to extend that right to everyone else...even if they disagree with us. I think it is important to remember not to take any of it personally and come to a point where those who disagree simply agree to disagree and move on.

I am not yet able to stand back from this, I get really riled up! So I am just focusing on believing Obama will be elected, and try not to think about how Palin is forcing her teenage daughter to marry the kid who knocked her up, and how she voted against saving the polar bear, and.... oh, there I go again! You see? I just have to stay away from it!

Actually, Marcy, I think there a lot of us "Reptilians" out there. This derogatory remark does nothing to further your credibility. While I haven't opted out of messages to "all members" of PI, I don't appreciate receiving derogatory political messages. I've been an abundant member of PI for years (and, yes, I know I'm not paying now; I'd've resigned long before now if I were), I think it's time for me to move on.

The way I see it, Marcy saw that she made a mistake that kinda showed that she was doing what she said she was trying not to do, and she changed it, because she saw Clamsauce's point. Good for you, Marcy!

It's pretty clear that politics in general stirs up a lot of EMOTIONS!!! Wow!

Taking offense in my view doesn't further the unity that we all need to have in our country, whether or not we agree with one another.

In fact, there are much larger factors at work in our universe than "sides." Like Marcy said, we can choose which views we prefer. And isn't that the wonder of life, and the blessing of democracy?

So she showed her preference a bit and realized she had made a mistake.

Our problem in politics and life in general is that sometimes we just can't let go of those little mistakes and we hang on to them for dear life, while forgetting to look at all the good things that people have done that far override a mistake or an opinion.

That is a really good question! I really have to think about this one!But my biggie is negetive and toxic people! I would really prefer that people would be more positive and think about whats good and not focus on what they don't have and be looking at others to see why they don't have what they have! I could think of some more but give me a little feedback.

when I first read this, Marcy, I thought oh dear...sitting on the fence but I realised reading on, this was not so at all. Preference is just such a good word for this - am very pleased I have re-discovered this word!!! I saw Palin (from U.K. here so not incredibly well up on American politics even though we do get it all the time over here!)......and took an immediate dislike to her. I do prefer Obama but am scared the Cllintons will dominate. But I will really make an effort, in everything, to not be black and white, just weigh the odds and prefer from now on.

I get all riled up when it comes to this topic too, really, really riled up.....so what I'm focusing on is being FOR Obama, for being allowed to make my own choices when it comes to my body, for the polar bear, for improving the economy by taxing the rich, for ending an illegal war, for putting politicians in jail who abuse their power, for sex education in school, for teaching evolution and for pointing out the hypocrisy of candidates when they refuse to see it themselves.....ie Sarah Palin (I guess she forgot to teach abstinence to her own daughter).

That is what I will be focusing on.
