Often what people do when they get thousands of followers and want to make sure they respond to those who are using the @ sign in front of their name, is they just check in on that area, rather than trying to keep up with everyone!
On your Twitter Home page, over on the right - like mine says @DianaWalker - you can check in there to see and answer your messages or when someone else is talking about you, using the @ sign
