Instant Coffee Wars Heating Up! Starbucks vs. Nescafé – But You’re the Real Winner! It might just be time for every Gano Excel affiliate to sit back and say, “I told ya so!” to corporate America. On June 5th, Reuters, the premier news service, ran an article about the “instant coffee war” between Starbucks and Nescafé (click here to read that article). In the face of some crippling financial hits, Starbucks introduced the VIA instant coffee line. Things started getting nasty when Nescafé launched a guerilla advertising campaign against VIA, including smear posters and hits against the brand’s flavor and affordability. It looks like Nescafé and Starbucks are just waking up to something we’ve been talking about for a while now: there’s loads of money to be made selling people coffee they can make at home.
What’s clear is that affordability, as much as taste, has become a determining factor in winning people over to an at-home coffee. Now, remember that preferred wholesale Gano Excel customers get their coffee for $16 per 30 sachet box; that equals out to a measly $.53 per cup! Compare that to a 12 stick pack of Nescafé, currently on sale at Amazon.com for $12.16, or a 12 pack of Starbucks Via, which will sell for $9.95. Pre-brewed coffee was invented by George Washington? OK, not THAT George Washington – G. Constant Louis Washington, an American inventor who invented the process in the early-1900s and mass-marketed it as Red E Coffee. Or at least that’s what most history books tell you; current research indicates that Satori Kato, a Japanese-American scientist, actually invented the unique process that leads to delicious coffee house taste in a sachet!

Our native land is covered in "Gorse" which was introduced to our country about 1830 to use as fences, however it has run rampant over our land. We need to plan how to best utilize our land after the Gorse has been eradicated (digging, cutting, burning). Gorse has a powerful root system and it is not easy to get rid of and I am not convinced about its useful qualities, if any. As a result, I am learning more about Organics and am convinced that we need to grow our native medicinal plants, orchards, food and flax for weaving, This picture does not show our farm area, however, I am working on my photos etc. and slowly I am learning more about making videos etc. to upload in order to exhibit the land area etc. I grew up with organic food from our family gardens without realizing it.
