The National Geographic Channel has been showing a special on the exploration and scientific study of these caves where these massive and very amazing crystals are located.. It is a very interesting program and a must see if you are curious about the formation of these massive crystals. The caves where the crystals are located is very deep and the temperatures are so hot that scientists must wear special gear and can spend no more than thirty minutes at a time in the caves.
This program is a must see for crystal lovers. It is a totally scientific study, but very informative. It would be wonderful to see a metaphysical study done on these crystals!

I think it depends upon the color of the stone. I know that the 'dragon skin' matrix design comes in a variety of colors and jasper as well. Though there is not much written about it, it appears to carry powerful protection/defensive properties especially where wealth and prosperity are concerned. When considering the colors it comes in you can add that. For example, a green color may protect wealth, a black color may protect against negativity, and so on. The most important point, and I can't stress this enough, is how the spirit of the stone speaks to you. It will let you know by its vibration. Hope this helps!

- Right of the bat I would suggest Moonstone. It is said that Moonstone can aid in problems of water retention in the body. Wear or carry it on your person and place it under your pillow at night.

- Exposing quartz to a full moon is a method of re-charging. The energy of the moon is drawn into the crystal. Crystals that are used must be cleansed and re-charged on a regular basis. The purple color of amethyst will fade with use and cleansing and re-charging will bring the color back. I have a small amethyst sphere (for wearing) that lost its color from wearing due to use. I actually lost it (it fell to the bottom of a canister of potpourri). I found it a year later and didn't recognize it at first as it was now a very dark purple. Cleansing and re-charging are very important. You can actually see and feel the changes. Check out the earlier discussions for detailed info on charging and cleansing methods.
