Is FORGIVE a Switchword?

I came across an Eckhart Tolle quote

"Forgiveness" is a term that has been in use for 2,000 years, but most
people have a very limited view of what it means. You cannot truly forgive
yourself or others as long as you derive your sense of self from the past. Only
through accessing the power of the Now, which is your own power, can there
be true forgiveness. This renders the past powerless, and you realize
deeply that nothing ever did or that was ever done to you could touch even
in the slightest the radiant essence of who you are. The whole concept
of forgiveness then becomes unnecessary.

And how do I get to that point of realization?
When you surrender to what is and so become fully present, the past
ceases to have any power. You do not need it anymore. Presence is
the key. The Now is the key.

How will I know when I have surrendered?
When you no longer need to ask the question.

Maybe FORGIVE ( forgiving all who have upset us in one way or another)will help us move forward. What do all think?

very true. Forgiveness make us feel lighter and helps us to move on.One must forgive all and keep on blessing them. We can experience more love in the "Heart Centre".
I'm doing Forgiveness exercise and I'm experiencing lots of goodness in my life.

I love the concept of FORGIVE being used as a switchword...it feels powerful and soothing. It can also serve as a reminder of just what an important role forgiveness can play in our lives. Nice find.

Thanks for starting this discussion about FORGIVE, Divine Charm. When I saw the topic the light when on in my head; I recall Abraham talking about this so I went to the web site and did a quick search and they have talked about this many, many times.

In SWITCHWORDS we have FOR and GIVE as individual Switchwords, where FOR is to Promote something and GIVE is to help another out in some way. And, Neale Donald Walsch, in Conversations With God books, he talks about us as being forgiving meaning that this is what we do. We are made for giving, giving to self, to others, etc.

I think it was interesting that Abraham took the idea of Forgiveness as connected with condemnation. They know that that term got distorted like so many other terms do. This is why in The Secret we learn to look for the good in everything and live in the NOW like NOW I feel Good....Now, now, now I am to FORGIVE,

Thank you for Abe=Hicls take on this.

But many of us are no where like Abe. There is a lot of pent up frustration, maybe even anger, may underserving self0defeating thoughst which has ro be released. One human way is to FORGIVE.

Many old traditionas are big on this and I particulalary like one from Huna- Ho'oponopono which requires forgiveness.

Ho'oponopono is a very freeing, peaceful practice which incorporates love and FORGIVEness. FORGIVEness is a gift we give to ourselves that assists us in releasing self-defeating thoughts/beliefs. THANK YOU for the reminder, the old traditions and practices are time tested and honored.

I love that you brought this up Cherio and Divine Charm is so correct many people are not there yet and may never be this is OK to. Cindy Ho'oponopono is divine. And Yes Brandy forgiveness is powerful .

When I heard that from Abraham and it finally sunk in the "no forgiveness necessary idea " wow how life changing. When anyone understands that they are attracting it all and do not need forgiveness relationships shift to a quantum level of love.

This weekend I had like two comments from people that were well just plain annoying and I stopped both times and said kim it has nothing to do with them why are you attracting this. I cleaned up my thinking --shifted my energy and one of them actually came up and hugged me without me saying a word. ---this is where our power lies.

BTW I use deep self love treatments to clean up my thinking----just telling myself over and over how wonderful I am --much like you would do to a child you loved and wanted to life.

Kim, just this morning I go out with Deleah and Sonny, our Golden Retriever for the morning walk. We go out really early so Sonny can roam a little like his kind like to do. Anyway, when we leave the house, at about 3:55 AM, the neighbor right across the street who has two dogs; they start barking their heads off. This is not the first time. So, I lose my cool and I shout out Shut the F34k Up! And use a couple of other choice words that everyone could hear. And, I get that feeling right in the Solar Center and I go on and on about those dogs and so forth.

Finally, I cool down. Come back to the house and sign on here and read your message about it's not them! It's what I have attracted into m life again and again. You see, I cannot stand barking dogs at all and it stems from when I lived in CA.

Anyway, I want to say thank you so very much for your message. It completely PUT me back into TOGETHERNESS almost. This APARTNESS feels terrible. Now I will do as you did and say, "Cheiro, it is not about them. Why are you attracting this?"

Yes indeed. Why do I attract barking dogs? I asked and I will get the answer and make the correction. Thank you Kim Caldwell. You have done it again!

Speaking of all this I get a message from Neale Donald Walsch today and he says:

"On this day of your life, Cheiro, I believe God wants you to know...

....that holding a grudge does no one any good, and rarely achieves the result of hurting or damaging the one you cannot forgive.

The only one who gets hurt or damaged by your holding a grudge is you. Now I know that you already know this. So why hold a grudge?

Many people say, "It is to protect my own dignity. I will not speak to that person unless he or she speaks to me first -- and says they are sorry, and asks forgiveness." Yet is this the way to retain one's dignity?

It may be.

When I read where Catherine Ponder ( my idol) says holding a grudge creates a bond between you and the person you are angry with that is stronger than steel. I was cured--hehe

Right, Kim. Look what holding grudges has done to countries. You know there's still some grudge holding in the south about the Civil War. And, look at the situation with Israel and Israel's neighbor countries. Then there are family feuds that go on for 100 or more years.

I think to Forgive means to BE FOR the person and GIVE to them love and freedom. It does not mean the common thing to say" I forgive you for stealing my coat." Or to say to forgive a person from taking a girl away from another guy.

I think that kind of thinking is Sacrifice and sacrifice nearly always produces, in one way or another, a form of anger. A person says, "I forgive you," but they do it generally out of sacrifice.
