In the Old Trunk

All dusty and covered with muck
there sat the old trunk
right there
some 30 years
Inside were poems
written with tear stains
while others had happy bounces
and yet more that struggled to bend
around the next corner
to reach out to the light
to open the doors of a soft
solitary moment
Pictures bountiful and more
Ah the child setting near the lake
was me
a glow upon the face
a smile in the corners of the mouth
A happy child one would say
And over there were family members
preparing another path
while the little one
sat upon the warm log
glowing in thoughts
of magical moments in time
Others were swinging on wooden swings
while she was dancing in the stream
Some were screaming and yelling
she sat in solitude
moments in time
a silent movement she made
walking through wheat fields
of yellow
A treasure she found down deep
in the trunk
a box filled with memories
a necklace of stone
a heart wrapped in tissue paper
a pen, still dripping with ink
she wrote with it often
O' the treasure
in the Old Trunk
