Life's Great When You're Evolving

The DVD of The Secret was the second phase of my journey in evolving my awareness.

The first phase was in synchronistically getting in touch with the late Thomas J. Leonard (July 31, 1955 - February 11, 2003) in 1998. He gave me an opportunity to peek inside the newly evolved concept of 'coaching'. To many, we heard that he had been tagged with the title of "Father of Modern Coaching". I have many fond memories of insights revealed and shared by Thomas.

The most powerful thing he revealed to me was that when people collaborate something huge and great can be created. This was true of the way that all the coaching organisations he had begun were created and the materials, content and membership refined. Seth Godin noted CoachVille as one phenomenon where membership exploded in a matter of a couple of years to over 50,000 members.

I recall that almost all of us were participating in R&D groups and pilot classes to provide mutual input and feedback so that the courses and content could be improved and refined. There was never a shortage of activity and room to explore as well as to express our ideas and insights.

I must admit at the time, I found myself feeling lost as there were concepts and discussions going on which I thought were way over my head. I later realised that there was so much profundity in the materials. During that time, unfortunately, I had not evolved to that level of depth and understanding. I struggled to make full sense of everything.

Through the thousands of pages and hours of audio and forum exchanges, Thomas always reminded us that he intentionally placed people in situations of overwhelm. I didn't really understand this at the time until this past year when I met another two heavyweight mentors.

Thomas used to relate to us in terms of 'memes' - and that concepts and ideas continually mutate as more input is shared.

And I realised that the 'coaching dynamic' is the most powerful form of communication and persuasion. Great coaching occurs when the coach is one of the most influential catalysts in a client's or business's performance. Changes, improvements and evolution occurs which would never have happened without the inclusion of a coaching structure as part of a client's life equation, or in a business, profits would never have been generated from various sources had it not been for the intervention and input of ideas which provided sort of a 'chemical reaction'.

That's what happened with The Secret DVD and my understanding of the law of attraction.

I had read all the books before. Numerous times.

I'd read Napoleon Hill, Bob Proctor, The Celestine Prophecy, Deepak Chopra and numerous others on the vibrational power of the mind and yet the real awakening eluded me. It wasn't until the Secret, and I think we were being charged $5 to watch it online back then, that it all came together for me. The Secret was for me, in terms of getting what the law of attraction was all about, my catalyst. It evolved my memes in this area of my life. It opened new dimensions and perspectives. It let me see the reality of expanded options in all areas of my life - not merely money.

I always believe that in any work - 'Where there is no vision, the people perish.'

Whatever it is we do, we serve by evolving the vision that people and clients have of themselves. That there can be improvement in their lives, that solutions can be delivered and services rendered to satisfy the end result they seek.

In my work now, I've been granted my wish to have met a mentor who would sincerely and authentically empower me and expand my possibilities. In my journey, I've encountered several successful business people however it was not an environment that resonated and in the end no mentoring occurred as initially discussed. I remember in the Secret, Bob Proctor utters "If it's people you need, you'll attract it." and Michael Beckwith said "You could start with nothing. And out of nothing, a way will be made."

I started a journey in 1998 where something ignited my passion to become a catalyst for people to improve their ability to earn more for themselves. When led by one's passion, when things don't make sense, there is a driving force within that keeps bringing you back to it. There was absolutely no market for 'coaching' where I was at the time. Nor was I in any related industry from which I could launch a coaching platform. And yet, something in me wouldn't be extinguished. It beckoned my attention and time everyday. Not knowing if there was anything to be formed out of this.

To reduce my verbal waffling, after the Secret, and finally aware of all the connections between all the other books and materials I'd read years ago, things literally began to evolve at a much faster pace. I finally, again synchronistically, got the opportunity to work with a super heavyweight mentor and his COO and participate in co-creating what is most probably the most ambitious mentoring program he has ever created. He's never done it before and he needed people who were willing to participate in a trial environment so he could receive feedback and refine his approach. I don't even remember how the notification came by me via email. It was a totally random email. I wasn't signed up to his mailing list, although I remember ten years ago, hearing a tape of him being interviewed and recalling if I would ever be able to participate in one of his programs. This guy's time doesn't come cheap. Even his own mentor in 1978 was charging $15,000 per day for his time.

I would not have ever expected I'd get this opportunity - especially one that came up so unexpectedly!

And I was in a position to make full use of the experience. To be mentored by one of my greats and from my years of endlessly studying the dynamics of coaching and its structures I was experiencing a loop in my journey - somehow these two things collided and met at a time and place where I could make the most out of it!

This will be one of those things which one is unable to explain with much clarity. Some people would call it luck. And yet, it's much more than that obviously. I am excited to continue from this point. My vision is filled with clarity in the ways I will be that catalyst and touch people's lives for the better. Life's great when you're evolving!
